Carbon Neutral Production
Image Engineering is proud to be the first company in the Nynomic group to announce that its production in Germany is now carbon neutral. We are pleased to have achieved this feat without buying certificates or sponsoring a few questionable forestation projects. We implemented multiple changes and upgrades in our headquarters to achieve carbon neutrality. In our production facility, for example, we have installed a photovoltaic plant with a power of approximately 110 kWp. For heating, we have changed from gas to heat pumps.
Meanwhile, the PV plant produces enough electricity to cover our regular power consumption as well as the power for the heat pumps to heat the building in the winter. In the summer, the installed batteries cover the power consumption at night, making the company almost entirely independent from the grid. The extra electricity not needed right away is fed into the grid. Of course, in winter, we need to get some power from the grid because no current economic storage solution could store the energy produced in summer and thus make it available in winter. However, we still produce more energy in summer than we consume throughout the year.
It’s important to note that these updates still don’t make our products carbon-neutral because many of our suppliers are unable to or have not yet invested in sustainable production. Nonetheless, we can assure you that in our supplier assessments, sustainability does and will continue to play an important role when choosing which suppliers we will work with.
