Adaptive White (AW)
TechnologyIntroduction
Adaptive White (AW) is the latest illumination technology for reflective illumination in a test lab. Over the last few years, fluorescent lighting has become obsolete due to the limited availability of fluorescent tubes. Many of our illumination devices, such as the lightSTUDIO-S and the iQ-Flatlights, could use fluorescent tubes instead of iQ-LED technology.
While fluorescent light offers fewer possibilities than iQ-LED, it provides a more basic illumination option, often ideal for new test labs. With this issue in mind, our R&D team began working with AW technology to develop a new light source to replace fluorescent tubes.
AW light sources offer a fluorescent tube replacement using AW technology. Benefits of AW technology include:
- Adjustable brightness and color temperature (CCT)
- Excellent illumination uniformity
- 25 pre-defined configurable presets
- CRI > 90 and ≥ 95 versions
- Horizontal and vertical user interface versions
- Superior power distribution compared to fluorescent tubes
When used in the lightSTUDIO the light source will be available with one or two light stripes with adjustable brightness. The version with the one light stripe has a maximum illuminance > 1800 lux for continuous operation (there is the possibility to extend the maximum to 2000 lux for specific testing scenarios, but we do not recommend this for constant operation), while the option with two light stripes has an illuminance of > 3400 lux. Color temperature can be adjusted between 2700 and 6500 Kelvin. The light source will be available with standard high CRI LEDs (90) or optimized CRI (95) LEDs and one or two light stripes.
Standard LEDs
The maximum intensity of the standard high CRI LEDs is 3600 lux for a light source with two light stripes and a maximum intensity of 1800 lux for a light source with one light stripe. These intensities were generated using a 50% gray wall in the lightSTUDIO.
Optimized CRI LEDs
The maximum intensity of the optimized CRI LEDs is 3200 lux for a light source with two light stripes and a maximum intensity of 1600 lux for a light source with one light stripe. These intensities were also generated using a 50% gray wall in the lightSTUDIO.
lightSTUDIO-AW
The lightSTUDIO-AW replaces the previous lightSTUDIO-S versions that relied on fluorescent tubes to illuminate a real test scene. This product has two versions, one with high-power CRI and one with even higher CRI, depending on your illumination specifications. This version uses the horizontal orientation and is mounted above the test scene.
