LED-Panel API

LED-Panel API

If you have a particular requirement, we have a C++ application program interface (API) available. When using the LED-Panel API, you can modify the start and stop timing of the device, change measurement modes, and incorporate other products (i.e., iQ-Trigger) for use with the LED-Panel, among others.

International Standards

The LED-Panel is compliant with a variety of image quality standards.

ISO 15781

The timing measurement standard that defines methods for testing shooting time lag, shutter release time lag, shooting rate, and start-up time lag for digital cameras systems.

IEC 62676-5

This standard outlines methods and metrics for evaluating the image quality performance of security camera systems.

VCX

VCX is an international standard for testing the image quality performance of mobile phones and webcam systems.

Product Overview

The LED-Panel V5 is one of the market’s most popular timing measurement devices for determining key timing values in digital cameras. We offer variations with different peak wavelengths, viewing angles, and versions that support near VIS-IR testing (850 nm (NIR) and 940 nm (NIR)).

The latest version includes a few notable features, including the ability to dim the LED array, which significantly improves device performance in low-light conditions. Other parameters, including rolling shutter, shutter lag, and bright-light conditions, have improved accuracy, and the frame rate has also expanded its measurement range. Finally, the USB interface now supports the full speed range of the LED-Panel.

The LED-Panel uses an array of LEDs that support multiple illumination modes and frequencies based on the measurement parameters. This device meets all the requirements outlined in the timing measurement standard ISO 15781. The standard defines several timing metrics, including shooting time lag, negative shutter release time lag, shutter release time lag, shooting rate, and start-up time.

The LED-Panel can be easily integrated into the testing environment and combined with the iQ-Trigger and iQ-AF Box to create a complete timing measurement solution for digital camera systems.

Measurable parameters

  • Shooting time lag (shutter lag with autofocus)

  • Shutter lag without autofocus

  • Autofocus time

  • Negative shooting time lag

  • Burst frame rate

  • Display refresh rate

  • Exposure time

  • Rolling shutter speed

  • Startup time

Use Case

Typical application areas

VCX Mobile Phone Measurements

The LED-Panel is the ideal solution for measuring the most vital timing parameters of a camera system. These include shooting time lag, shutter time lag, autofocus time, framerate, exposure time, rolling shutter speed, and startup time. The VCX-PhoneCam standard defines timing parameters for mobile phones, all of which can be evaluated using the LED-Panel. We have integrated two LED-Panels into our TE42-LL multipurpose test chart, enabling you to measure multiple image quality factors (e.g., resolution, color accuracy, and dynamic range), including timing, in a single test image.
